David S , I and my boss { Ying } talk day and night using Yahoo messenger and videocam , she also has a program downloaded so that she gets instant translation from me typing in English , the only problem that I can see is it means I am very lazy on Chinese only having to know a few words , oh we also have Q Q as backup in case Yahoo is down  or overloaded , regards Ying and Robert .
Now it is early to bed and late to rise .

Pity there's no instant translation plugin for QQ, at least not one that I can find ...
Go deep or don't go

Willy, I have to say when I do get to China, you are one of the people I will have to meet up with. We would have such a good fun time. My lady has a good sense of humor too. I can't wait for this.

David,

I'll also add that although learning Mandarin is going to impress your lady, the task is immense. My goodness the speed the radio presenters speak in Mandarin is incredible. I am also a novice but I am figuring out that there are all sorts of different accents and dialects. I know for sure that air hostesses and taxi drivers do not speak the same kind of Mandarin, that's for sure!!!

A better way to impress your lady might be to learn about her culture. This is my 4th visit to Asia so I got huge bonus points for being able to talk to her about moon cakes, lucky cats, cup noodles, Mandopop stars and Sichuan cooking!

I look forward to meeting a man who has given me some great laughs on this forum.  Mind you I am not cheap for personal appearances - sometimes I get as much as 1 RMB per visit once I received 2 but that was to leave fast.

Willy
Welcome David

Yet another Dave on the Forum - (pity we have not got a Rodney to really confuse things but maybe only the British will understand that.)

I have lived in China since June and have loved every minute of it.

If I can be of any assistance to you then just let me know.

I forgot about that matter. I probably should have said, like my old economics professor, all things being equal, I would never do it again. It was a delight to meet you.

But I wonder if every new person can expect to find you in each and every Chinese province? You are not Father Christmas, and so I think that we are doing them are kindness by not suggesting that there is a (remote) possibility of meeting Willy.

Perhaps part of my thought process has been influenced by my experience here in the US with various dating sites.
[/i]

[1] Don't know how it is in the USA,
but I found that China is full of stunning woman who think they are plain.
Regrettably, in NZ its the other way round. :icon_cool:
Who could not be drawn to a culture that can show such grace, dignity and history??

[2] My working hypothesis is that woman are inately smarter than men :icon_biggrin: . Chinese woman in particular seem to have a radar that homes in on inauthenticity.

[3] I've found the practice of creating space and silence a useful way of letting my lady express what really concerns her, even if it turns out to have no substance.
It appears that many chinese woman have not had the experience of being really listened to....and are quietly appreciative.
As an audio dude, I'm sure you understand this.
PS.  It doesnt work in a chinese restaurant. Any chinese restaurant :icon_biggrin:

A question, is the yahoo messenger software available to the ladies in China, I noticed a lot of people mentioning “QQ” is that the name of the software, that is most available to the ladies in China?

We use Yahoo Messsenger exclusively, including both Webcam and sound features. It works well, tho does not seem able to manage the not infrequent power cuts to apartment blocks in Shenzhen :-(
I also use Google translate in a window below Yahoo. I've found it neccesary to go English-> simplified Chinese-> English, to make sure the translator does not take too many liberties with my English.
If you find a lady with whom you wish to go deeper, I suggest switching on the Yahoo archive feature and backing up the archives. You will need concrete evidence of  relationship if you want to be together in USA. HTH :icon_biggrin:

Nice lady DavidK.

Wow, the ladies here on the border of Sichuan province are simply astounding. Wow, I don't think I have ever seen such strikingly beautiful ladies.

Sadly I am already spoken for. Besides they are all very tall so it would never work for me :@.

I am not sure why Chinese ladies are so beautiful. My lady eats like a horse, and yet she has a perfect figure.
