Ted,

I wasn't implying the women didn't want to get married now, or yesterday, ....I was saying that some of the guy's here seem to be in just as much of a hurry!! ....Willing to take these huge ''leaps of faith'' with little foundation on which to base any sort of marriage on....

Personally, i just couldn't and more importantly ''wouldn't'' ever rely on a leap of faith as a basis for my marriage....

Leap David, Leap.....life is just too short to go through alone...:icon_cheesygrin:

Ted, how long did you say it was from the time you met your wife until the time you got married?

Shaun, Like Indianna Jones, you have chosen..........................wisely.

Just a couple of days to go before our intrepid hero arrives in China, and knocks on Willy's door, looking for a bit of bread and a floor to sleep on.....LOL, LOL

I understand Shaun that the Chinese government has "geared up" for your arrival....lol

Good luck in your endevor's and may the sun shine on your back...I'll be waiting to hear how it goes.....

Don,

Thank you.  I hear the new operation is call "The Hunt for Red Beard."  I will have to arrive in Hong Kong in disguise to be whisked away by the Canadian underground to a secret location until negotiations can be made on my behalf to allow me to continue wearing my mustache and goatee.  As I speak the negotiation process has already begun.

rockycoon,

Nah, .... You do the leaping, and I'll sit back and Watch!! ...hahaha!!  I'm NOT alone, i'm very much 50% part of a ''WE'' !!

But even if i wasn't, i'm not into taking ''leaps of faith'' in something as important as taking a wife and marriage. ...I need to ''Know'' for certain, that what i'm/were doing is going to be the right thing, for both myself and my partner....

David, it is with heavy heart that I have to agree with you...damn when your right your right.  But a marrage is based on a deep
friendship between two people who do not wish to be with any other.  When you first meet it's attraction and lust, it turns to a
deep friendship.  And besides, you should be very close friends before you get married, this as you suggest could take years, on
the otherhand, two people could see the magic in the relationship and live happy ever after.

Shaun, Have a wonderful trip.  I hear the Hong-Kong police have a "special" unit waiting to welcome you.  They call it the
beard patrol, and marrage patrol,  They come with sheep shears for you.  Heard its a law in all china that you must be clean shaven,
before entering the country.  Somthing about scaring the hell out of the women and children...:icon_cheesygrin::icon_cheesygrin: after your
shaven (by novices) your taken to the marrage chappel, to be with your sweetie....haha  LOL  can't wait shaun the bets still on....:icon_cheesygrin:
and agian have a wonderful trip, and don't forget to write....we want to know.....:dodgy:

Don,

Regarding the last sentence in your post, ....I'm not saying that this cant happen and can't work, obviously some will and do work out. But Not for me, i need time to be certain what my early gut feelings are telling me.

As i said, These leaps of faith can work, but for the amount of them that do, there are far more that don't, ....far too many in fact!!!

You want to know why some Chinese women want out of the country?  My wife told me of a patient she had last night.  A 42 year old woman with 2 small children accidentally stepped on her husbands foot.  He boiled a pot of water and while boiling he stuck her foot into it and held it there.  She cannot go to the police as there are no laws against this and no policeman would enforce it if there were.  She told Gina that she could not leave him because she had nowhere else to go.  No family.  No place to live.  She has put up with this since they were married 6 years ago.  At least here in the states we have womens shelters.  I just dont understand any man who does this and he should get the exact same treatment he gives her.

part of the reason they have the attraction to the western man. we as a whole
treat women with respect and dignity. if as you said was done in the states there
avenues for them to go to for help. and of course the authorities would do something
about that also. yes we do have the knuckleheads that do treat their women badly
but i would say that its a small percentage.  this sounds like they were from the
countryside here were these things are a little more prevelent to happen at least the
bad treatment not always to this extreme.

Cowards like this do not change either! You can take them "out back" and have a talk with them and they in turn take it out on their wife as soon as they can. It is all in their background and they will never change. And don't get me wrong, I can't stand a guy that treats their women, or children, like this. I mention children because it could as easily start happening to them too.

On a lighter note, one of my first sights from the airport in Hong Kong...
This is the wildest paint job I have seen on a commercial liner!
