Not that I know of but I was smart enough to bring about 350 movies on a pocket sized external hard drive, one of the English TV channels in Shanghai is really bad, the other one is worse.:-/

Hi Ted,

You could try these two. The sites are in Chinese so you have to do a bit of translation work. Lots of US Tv and movie stuff for free  www.youku.com and  www.tudou.com They have the latest series of desperate housewives so that pleases the wife, she's fascinated by it:icon_cheesygrin:

Can't help with the TV but when I come over I can bring some DVD's that I have seen and i will leave them with you.

I get Pearl TV two Channels in English.  But not sure if you can get those in Guangzhou.

Hi Ted,
I have used a place called PPS TV, you can download the viewer which is simple then you can watch lots of various TV Shows and Movies
Most of the Titles are in Chinese but there are quite a few in English.
Link for the Veiwer is: http://www.pps.tv/en/video.html
I hope this is of some assistance

Greetings brothers,

Hi Ted, here is another option for you its called pplive.com.  All the tutors and teachers at my school use it between classes to watch movies.  It has a good selection including recent ones like 2012 etc.  when I go to it its in chinese but apparently there is an english version that I dont have on my computer at work yet.  I will try to get it set up and let you know.

Regards,

Zhen and Brian

Why can you go to sites like hulu.com. Is the bandwidth there in China pretty bad. Here at home I have a computer hooked to the TV we all watch it and dont even have cable anymore.

The problem with hulu.com is that it's US restricted.  If you're in Canada (in my case) or elsewhere, you can't view content from there.
