Last minute advice?
« on: December 23, 2009, 03:00:31 am »
I'm off to my lady in Zhanjiang, Guangdong, in just a few days. Hoping that the dreadful weather in Europe does not put an end to my plans I will be leaving on December 27.

I've talked to my lady on the phone now and heard her sweet voice so hopefully this (http://www.chnlove.info/showthread.php?tid=1432) was only a bump in the road and nothing more.

I asked my lady about maybe taking some studio pictures when I'm visiting her and she said sure. Does anyone know if this is very expensive...?

I don't know if I'll write anything here while I'm in China (I probably will if things go to hell!). Either way, I'll give you a summary of the trip when I get back to Sweden again on January 6 (or probably on the 7th after a good night's sleep...).

Any last minute advice to share, boys?

I guess studios are pretty cheap - I saw loads in Wuhan so it's obviously big business.

My tip is to take loads of photos of your lady, you'll appreciate them when you get home! The Chinese sure love posing for photos :icon_cheesygrin:!

Take care with the studios Hans.  There are Studios and places that call themself studios.  Check out their portfolio the good ones will be pleased to show them.  The prices are good value and if you just want a few quality snaps then any studio will do that and because they are digital you will see and decide there and then if you want them or not.

Other than that have a good trip - our weather is warming up for the weekend and you will be a little further south so yours should be nice.

Hans i got studio pictures taken and for 36 jpg's and one framed and 7 or 9 (can't remember) prints for 300RMB. That was two costume changes in the studio (one western style, one eastern). That was a good rate her friend got for us though.

I think standard was about 500RMB for that. Her friend had three costume changes done with one outdoor shoot for 1500RMB (outdoor = loads more). The works with multiple costume changes  and shoots around the city and makeup for the man and women and photo touching up afterwards (remove skin blemishes, whiten teeth etc) can cost up to 5000RMB.

So quite a range to choose from!
Become the change you want today, or all your tomorrows will be like yesterday.

I am with Brett on his advice.  Take loads and loads of pictures.  When you have lonely times after you return home, you will appreciate all of them.

Don't worry about anything, be yourself, just let it lose, let chips fell where it may, good luck and have a fun and exciting trip,  hopefully you won't have to use it but it won't hurt to have a plan B.

Thank you everyone! And thanks for the advice about the studios. I hope we can find a decent studio, the prices seem reasonable.

I guess the only plan B I have is to enjoy the surroundings in Zhanjiang or Guangzhou if it does not work out. I hope it won't come to that. Right now it all seems very fine, I talked to her this morning. Her Mandarin is pretty easy to understand, actually, which I did not expect from a Guangdong girl. I think she's trying hard to talk slowly and clearly. :-) It seems her English is more or less non existent, though, so I guess it's up to me.
