Travelling in China

The Guangzhou - Wuhan high speed train started running yesterday.

That journey previously took 10 hours but has now been reduced to under 3 hours with trains travelling up to 370 kmph.

There is a flight from London that goes via Hong Kong to Guangzhou so the link onwards to Wuhan may be useful for those travelling that route.    

But it also makes Guangzhou accessible to those in Wuhan when we have our February conference at Teds home in Guangzhou!!!

I think they are still talking about the Hing Kong -Shenzhen - Guangzhiou high speed rail link.

great news, Sunny's home town is close to Wuhan and I was dreading the long trip by bus, which apparently took the same time as the train, not any more!

I was sent a flyer email today from Cathay Pacific, stating a round trip fare of 499 GBP from London to 13 cities in China via Hong Kong, check it out, ... and see if it covers the period your intending to fly back to China.

To the other Brits here, this may be very useful to you too, especially if your lady lives in any one of the cities covered.....

Thanks Willy. Do you happen to know when the other line is opening? I saw they were building a high speed line from Wuhan to Yichang, but I don't know where else it goes (Wuhan - Chongqing?) or where the junction will be for the Guangzhou line. That line could help me a lot.

There's also meant to be a Hong Kong - Yichang flight but I can't find anything about it on the usual travel sites.
