Ted,

Funny maybe, but you also have to give credit where credit is due. You colonials often forget how you came about in this modern world, most of it was through a tiny little Island thousands of miles away from you. In fact, most of your forefathers were British or of British decent. An Island that over the years built an Empire that stretched around the globe, so that in effect ''the sun never set over that British Empire''. All this from an Island that could fit many, many times into the countries it once ruled....

We didn't lose it 200 years ago either, most of the British Empire was ceded back to it's modern population over the last hundred or so years. During the British rule of this Empire, It brought the ''Rule of Law'' to many countries that were previously ruled by local warlords, Princes, and self appointed Ruler/dictators. Where life was anything but Rosy!!!

Maybe life was not perfect under British rule, but it was a darn site better and fairer than it was before British rule, and in more than just a few cases, better than after the British left!!!

David....

Dave I think Maxx was reliving elementary school nightmares brought on from having to do research papers using the acient tome "Encyclopaedia Britannica"

And lets not forget "Rule, Britannia" by James Thomson

I still get a kick out of the movie "Carry On... Up the Khyber" - Is this Madness.... No it's British

I have been entertaining the notion of going in Feb. My wife will have a zither contest and it will be our 1 year Redbook aniversary, but this is our busy season at work. Looks like the oil industry here is recovering as all indications point to a very busy 3 months.

Maxx, Ted...

I've had over 30 years of working overseas, and i get this stuff everywhere i've been, so it wears a bit thin every now and again. So even though it was all a bit of messing around, it was just one of those times, it hit a sore spot!! ...lol!!
So i guess i should appologise, ...just wanted to make a point!!

Nothing that is said on here is ever a problem for me.

I have stuck up for Englishmen wherever they have been in the world.  That is why I go overseas a lot to get away from the irate Englishmen I have stuck up for when they have left their wives in England whilst workling overseas.

Well 'a womens need are many fold' goes the old Benny Hill song and I just liked to fill the gap when the husbands were away:icon_cool::icon_cool:
