Microsoft Security Essentials (http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials)

Unfortunately I've found AVG to have too many false positives.

Vince: That's because you've got a tiny market...hope you are running an AV though.  Otherwise the first real infection you get will be a bad one... (and for those of you who say macs don't get viruses, work in a mac workshop for a few years and try saying that...and yes, they do break down too)
Maxx,

Problem with spybot is that it's passive.  You want something that is actively scanning your system.  Otherwise any visit to a bad site will get you infected...at least with an active one, you can cut down at least half of the infections.

Time machine or something else.  Really worried about these online backups.  Since we're outside of the US, we've got privacy laws to follow...our lawyers and accountants and other "public trust" type companies are not allowed to use online backup sites based in the US because of your DHS...

..and some more free anti virus program:

http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download

http://www.avira.com/en/download/index.php

If yoou look around on the net you will find endless discussens about which one is the "best". It is probably down to personal preferences, i was introduced to Avast some years ago. Since it does the trick i have stayed with that one since.

In China, everyone is a hacker it seems like, and the viruses run wild.  I can't keep up with all of them.  The best one for my money
is probably Mcaffee, but they sting you on upgrades and such, but probably same as norton, except norton slows your system down, and is very hard to remove, it also comes on in the middle of things and tends to disrupt what your doing.  Try McAffee and see what happens
I'm not sure of the others listed, but I will try them and see what happens.

I have used Norton for years.  I know it is too big but I have only had one virus and it was from my first time in China.  AVG is good and avast is also. I have put them on computers in the past and the seem to have done the trick.

I have used Avira and had no problems since it was put on. It has been on about a year now. It is free for the basic and it upgrades it self all the time. It doesn't seem to slow down the computer, except when you first start up. One of my daughters just got bstung wuth a virus and she had no antivirus software running. I have had no problems.

If you need free AVG is good stuff.
I have been using NOD32 for a few years now. Works great. Will never use Norton Again. Norton Slows the whole machine down.
With NOD32 I saw no CHange in performance. And I was a mega Gamer when I started with it.
