They do seem to be the official gwai lo welcoming committee, don't they? Perhaps, if this job off I've got solidifies, I'll be the Northern China one.
As far as eating in Guangzhou, I think Ted and Sisi will back me up on this one, don't eat on Shamian Island. It's *really* expensive here. I ate at the German joint tonite for almost twice what it cost three of us last night at the buffet-esque joint last night.
Had much fun last night and it was good to speak nothing but English with someone which hadn't happened much in the previous two days.
Word of advice for those coming to China: if you don't speak *any* Cantonese or Mandarin, you might be in trouble. I speak more than most gwai lo do and it's nowhere near enough.
