Mum Wants to follow married daughter

Hi guys , anyone else come across this issue .. Sissis coming to the uk when she gets her visa, but mum (divorced) wants to come also in the future .. Sissi wants it to , but of course its not that easy .. unless the parent is 'dependant' .. its causing some worry for my new wife as she is close to her mum .. Im cool with it as i know how big the family issue is.

Anyone else had to deal with this ?

I am not sure about the UK but i do have a friend in the USA who did that
after his wife had been there if i remember 3 years. They didnt wait for that
period of time just that after his wife was there for that period of time they
decided to have mom come over. It took them almost 2 years to be able to
get her to come live with them. But they were successful and had to go thru
the usual hoops and expense to get her there but it can happen.

The UK is different from the USA in this respect and it may not be so easy to get her over to the UK.  The problem is that she will be getting near to pension age and that will be a major problem.  In any application they will consider that and health matters as the older one gets the more they use the Health Service.

I think that you may need some professional advice on that one Mark.

Addition to the above - spoke with a friend in UK - he says that your wife will have to probably wait for the 3 years or so before she gets Naturalisation before she can take her mother to the UK

Thanks for the input guys , mom has a good pension (in chinese terms) but not so good based on uk rates , Mom is early 50's and already retired so like you said she would be seen as a drain on the nhs in the future i guess , but i can and will sponser her for ALL costs if necessary.
Three years seems a long time , i thought it two to get perminent resident status .. even so i wonder if in that time mom will be allowed a visitors visa to stay maybe 6 months , then after another 6 months apply again .. im being hopeful i know but with myself and Sissi wanting a family i really dont like the thought of mom being 'stuck' alone and missing out on the kids

with you sponsoring her and her having a decent pension wouldnt that speed it up
there for her coming over with 100% probability of approval??

Yes, if you sponsor her visit, and you can fulfil all the sponsorship requirements , you shouldn't have too much of a problem....

I thought sponsoring was just for visits and not for someone who wants to stay permanently.

But then her Mum will want to take charge of a child while you both go to work.  That is the Chinese way.  Grandchild comes along and grand parents take over the bringing up.
