Rocky,
No, .... it hasn't changed to any noticeable degree, except for the teeth that is!! ...haha!!! You know, that many of the problems of the brown to yellowish stains on their teeth were cause by them being given the then new Tetracycline antibiotic before the age of 7 or so. It permanently stains the enamel of growing teeth and in many cases severely weakened it. Coupled with there love of sweet things (like sugar cane) and it was a real big problem...lol!!!
But your right, they are you describe, and just as family originated as the Chinese ladies. In fact that is basically the norm for all of South East Asian ladies...
David....
Don't think that this is just a poor country problem with tetracycline. I too suffer from this terrible problem. As a young child I had major ear infections and was given long treatments that have left me fighting a never ending battle with dental work...
and major expenses! In the past 5 years alone I have doled out over $15,000 in dental work and what pisses me off to no end is that here in the US...its considered all "cosmetic" and
IS NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE!!!To be honest one thing that I was considering having done in China are implants which would run me about $28,000 here in the States. Much more than I am willing to pay.
Seems every country has its issues, and while China may have its pollution problems...it looks like we will have a new national oil reserve when all the water in the gulf of Mexico is replaced with oil leaking from an offshore well that appears to have been made and operated to substandard methods...Due to Corruption, Payoffs, lax regulations and any number of what I have read about China. Big industry destroys on ALL continents.
I was actually impressed to read an article about how Guangzhou (fairly sure it was there?) converted all public transportation to LPG from diesel fuel to reduce pollution in only 3 years!!...Here in the states politicians would spend that long eliciting bribes...
I mean lobbying money before even making a plan that would still take 5 more years to implement and it would have a cost overrun of double the estimate.
My attitude is that I really don't care about politics, but results. Given the massive growth of China its actually amazing the entire country is not toxic to the core. And while some here may not know this, a river actually caught fire from pollution about 25 years ago. So every industrial has its pollution issues and I am sure that in time China will learn to deal with them.
