I'm going to be bringing a largish amount of euros with me to China and I'm wondering what is the biggest size bill i can bring that will be accepted in the bank (Bank Of China specifically) to cut down on bulk.
Last time I bought over €50 euro notes and they were each intensely scrutinized. Normally the banks here will give €100 and larger notes for large sums of money here but I'm worried that the banks there simply wont accept them.

Anyone any experience with large denomination notes and recommendations, should i stick to €50 (about 400 RMB) as the largest one?

For our Wedding ceremony , I brought 80 $100 Travelers Cheques with me and I went with Qing to BofChina . Took awhile , but gave me no problem really and didn't even charge me one single yuan . What the Euro concerns , I don't know .. I never seen anybody even mention them in SH .

$100 notes (the largest Aus currency) were accepted with no problem in Chengdu, Guangzhou and Beijing.
Credit and Debit cards acceptable at certain Bank Cash machines...but daily limits apply.

$100.00 here too in SZ, GZ, and Shaoguan.  My last trip I only took $500.00 cast and then went to the Bank of China to take out 2500RMB at a  time with my debit card.  It cost me $1.25US for each transaction and the exchange was 6.87.  It kept things simple.  One day I took out 10,000RMB with no problems.  But I would avoid China Construction Bank.  I had nothing but problems with them when using my debit card.

Guangzhou, and Changsha, had no problems with Canadian $100...but they all had to be in decent shape.

Dont listen to Ted.

When I was in Macau I picked up several hundred 259 rmb notes.  Never seen them before but the Nigerian guy that handed them over said any problems then bring them back and he would changethem to smalled ones such as the 87 rmb note of even the 39 rmb note.

Never seen euros listed in my bank so you if yoy want to take some of ths enores off my hand i can get you a good price.
