wo ai ni
« on: August 04, 2010, 11:52:01 pm »
So, I just got another letter from this lady. And she used "wo ai ni" in the subject line. Normally this should be pretty good.. but it's only the second letter. And not really the letter. She sent it in the subject line in the email she sent some 'regular' pictures in. any advice from the experts?

That's what I was thinking.  I'm thinking I'll have to ignore all requests from that agency.

Shenzhen Oriental Love Consulting Co. Ltd.             Agency ID: P508

The replies were pretty fast too. I'm guessing it was 100% the agency

First off, this was the agency I used...I consider them to be a good agency.  I met the owner, and my translator, and both seem honest to me.

However, that being said, every agency sends fluff letters at the beginning to get things moving.  Wo ai ni on the second letter is going too far though.  Most first few letters are agency written, until you start to find common ground to talk back and forth.  Not saying it is right...just that its common.

Okay, I can understand getting things moving.

So, given your experience with that agency should I just close up shop completely, or look over their faux pas and give it a few?

well frig, that's a loaded question. hahaha  I don't want to say either way...if it goes south, I get blamed.  And if it goes well...I get no credit! (just kidding)

Honestly, you are going to get this fluff from every agency.  I know from experience on this forum, that there are far worse agencies to be dealing with.  You could be writing to a lovely translator in Changsha instead.  This is an honest agency.  I would be curious to know who the translator is.

Here is a suggestion...write an EMF to your lady, but at the bottom of the letter, after you sign your name, add a PS for the translator...write directly to the translator, and mention your concerns, and see what she/he says.  I mean seriously...I love you on the second letter?  She's even faster than some of our former members here.  So far, the record is 3 EMF's, and apparently there was enough love to declare an engagement.  Fortunately, it didn't work out.

Oh dude, I wouldn't blame you.  I just don't want to strike up a relationship with a translator. If that is standard I can look past it.  Thanks for the tip about a p.s. to the translator.

Yeah. It's very appreciated.

So, agencies put two people together at seemingly random? I mean, does that lady even know they're writing to me? Or do they do it all on her behalf?

They have a few options.  The lady can come in...although this is inconvenient for the lady generally.  So either the agency will phone her, and read her your letter...she will then tell the translator what she wants to say back...keep in mind this is done in Chinese.  The translator will then make a nice email for you with what the lady said...might not be word for word...inset fluff here and there.  Agency might also email your letters to her, if she has a computer.  From my understanding, the phone method is the most common.

So this bit (from her and now a few other ladies from other agencies) about asking for my email to send pictures.  This is also an email set up by the agency?   I mean, I know you can't say for sure on anything. But, if that's how it usually goes down then I'd guess the 'personal' email address is also through the agency.

Thanks a lot Martin. It's all useful information. Any other tips for the new guy?

The ladies asking for your email and photos is unusual. I wonder if this is a new strategy they are using? It's been the other way around, guys can't get the email or photos? I'd tread lightly for a while.

way to fast i would venture to say its all translator FLUFF.  but only you can decide what to do

i do have one question -- is this the only agency in Shenzhen??? because of some inside info a member once
told me about an agency that is located in Shenzhen  from his personal dates with a translator who worked
there.
