Getting Registered.
« on: September 14, 2010, 01:41:23 am »
Well thanks to Ted and a couple other guys I realized I had screwed up again and when I got to China. I did not register. But it is amazing the things that will come from nowhere.
I went to the police station, and naturally my wife did most of the talking. We are helped by a very nice woman that could actually speak some English. And was very pleased to talk to me she said it was helpful to her English. So she got me registered and told me she was sorry that I was delayed and that there would be a fine to pay. I apologized and told her because of the 180 day per entry I have on my Visa I did not know I needed to register until some friends told me.
We talked awhile and she was writing she asked me a lot of questions but I think mostly because she was curious. She actually suggested I teach English I am not sure if she was just fishing for information. But I told her I knew there was a lot of things I would need to do that but for now I just enjoy retirement with my wife.
All in all it was a pleasant trip and in the end she suspended the fine told me to be sure and let them know each time I come to China and stay in Their City.
Her and my wife talked more and the woman ask if she could get together with us and talk some time and if I would help her with her English.  And I guess my wife had mentioned it to her because she also told me she would be happy to sign an affidavit for me stating that she knows the nature of my relationship with my wife is very real and is based on or love for each other. My lawyer told me just the other day that I should have at least 4 of those. It is amazing how good things can happen.

If one stays at an Western Hotel in China , they'll know where your at . It's when you stay with your Girl or her Family or Rent a place .. one should register with the Police . I only stayed at Hotels and never had to do such thing and I could go as I pleased .. City to City .

When I went on my first trip, I registered with the Police because I was staying at my wife's parents house.  On the second trip, I didn't register, as we were only in town for under 2 weeks...I didn't really think it would be too big of a deal.

She did not back date it. But told me I was good to go.
and I have only stayed in a hotel in China 5 days total. But I did tell her my other visits were only visits and were only 2 weeks each time.
We did not show her the rental agreement from the first half of the year. Only the current, So it may have appeared to her we have only had the house since the end of July.
Yes I know you must register now. I had never planned to stay this long back when my wife and I first met. I was under the impression you only needed to register if you are planning to work. And I have no plans to work. I did that already. Now it is time to relax enjoy the rest of my life with my wife.

I am glad I learned the computer business when I was young. Now I can work only when I want to. And make good money when I do.
It is fun to work now, And I do need to to do it now and then I like to stay as up to date on things as I can.  Any many of the young guys in the business have never bothered to learn the old systems that still comes in handy.
I still remember how excited I was when I got my first 500mb SCSI drive it was enormous. Wondered how big will they ever get. Now I buy 2TB drives for a third the price of that one.

Since I started this thread I will guess it is not Hijacking if I change the direction.
Yesterday at the police station the woman told me her English teacher had given her an English name it is May. Now my wife wants one she is afraid people in USA will have a hard time with Libo pronounced leapera. So I decided to help her find one that was similar. She did at least choose one that started with L she says she likes  Lucy. So I told her I did not mind, But I will always call her by her real name because it is who I married. She also liked that.  And after thinking about it if she uses this name when we get to the US she would be Lucy Liu. I laughed and told her we are 2 just regular people with 2 very famous name s this way.
Jim Henson and Lucy Liu. What a combination.
