Chinese New Year 2011 - whose going to be there?
« on: December 10, 2010, 12:58:03 pm »
With the Chinese New Year fast approaching I guess many of us here will be heading over there to meet up with our ladies.
Last year I got to eat Sunny's mothers cooking for a week solid, talk about living it up!
New Years time in China as many of you know is the single biggest event in the Chinese calendar and is a wonderful time to visit.

I will be in Guangzhou with Sunny from January 27th - February 13th. I'm hoping to meet up with Bee964 there.

Anyone else going to be in Guangzhou? , would love to meet up and swap stories over some dumplings  ;D

On another note, for those that are newer to dating women in China, Chinese New Year is a time that you will not likely hear from your lady.  Especially for those using Chnlove.com, and are using EMF's to communicate, you will have a long period of no communication.  It could be anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks.  Don't be upset that your lady has abandoned you...this is not likely the case.  The agencies are closed...the interpreters are gone to see their own families.  There will be NO communication.  This is just a warning to you, so you are not shocked.

The first year we had this group, there were several of us who were surprised by the sudden lack of communication with our ladies.  Having never been to China, we had no idea how big of a deal the Chinese New Year is.  Like Irishman said...it is single biggest event in the Chinese calendar.

Irishman, I will be in Guangzhou about February 10thISh depending on how many extra days leave I can swindle before my actual holidays start on 13th February.  This is so I can go to the Australian Consulate there and get my Statutory Declaration of my single status.

I will be able to give more positive dates the closer we get to February, but it would be good to meet up with some other brothers for a plate of dumplings and a cup of cha.
I WILL have my revenge for having to be clean shaven......once I learn how to tame my Dragon.

Andy,
Hohhot ,Inner Mongolia in January!!!! fantastic. I love the place, have fun and if you go out to dinner with a group watch out for the white spirit. They have a saying there that if at mealtimes there is not a bottle of it on the table then they get confused and don't know what to do. :)

Yes, i've been warned about this already from Li. She says they will probably be trying to ply me with lots of shots, and i'm not a very big drinker....! :)

I am going to try my luck again and visit my lady in China. 3rd time, 3rd lady i have attempted this. 3rd times supposed to be the charm, right? Anyway I will be in Chengdu and Mianyang from January 23 or 24 thru February 4 or 5. I have to be back to work on Feb 7. So it is cutting things close.  Lili tells me no problem getting transportation from Mianyang to Chengdu on the 3rd. Her famous words, "Don't worry!"  From what I have heard I find this a little unlikely. Can someone tell me if transportation is possible on their New Year Day? So far, unless I want a long layover somewhere, I have to leave at 12:20am from Chengdu on the 4th.  Yeah, i don't like that much, but not crazy about staying in an airport for 10 hours + either.  If anyone in that area at this time, would be happy to meet and talk to a brother .

Haha, I got offered some of this "Chinese wine" last New year and wow the stuff  gives Irish Poitin a run for the money in taste and strength! I think I'll politely decline this year and stick to beer.

I was in Chengdu last New Year.....like an ants nest that had been kicked !!!!...but thats the same all over China at that time of year.

Public transport was chaotic...everything filled to bursting point. Taxi should be OK, but I dont know how far from Mianyang to Chengdu ?...could be pricey.

If you have to wait 10 hours in any airport...dont do it in Chengdu...you would go nuts !!!

David , that's exactly why last year I booked my third Trip for Feb. 13th .. to avoid all this .. especially in Shanghai and Qing and I had planned to take a Trip to Beijing that time . I was not in the mood to Travel with a few Million on my Train going there .
