Chong did they give you a time span when you had your laser treatment. I was thinking of itsome years back  but a couple of people have told me it only stays good for about 12 years or so.

I got it done in my mid-thirties. I was lucky that I had no complications afterwards, unlike other people.

I was told that I'll probably need reading glasses just like any normal old person. I wouldn't suggest laser eye surgery for people over 50. Also your cornea has to be 'operational' for laser eye surgery. Some people can't get the operation because their eyeball is misshaped by a faction. This is what I heard from the doctor. I don't know the technical jargon.

I was told that I have a thin cornea so only the total surface shaping "PRK" could be used on me. If the cornea is thick enough then the flap method "LASIK" can be used.

Even if you see 20/20 or better on an eye chart after laser eye surgery, you still may need reading glasses once you hit your 40s. This is because the eye's lens becomes less flexible with age (a condition called presbyopia), reducing your near vision.
However, researchers are studying different approaches to presbyopia surgery. So it's possible that you could have one of these new presbyopia-correcting procedures performed later to restore your near vision, once they are FDA-approved.

Even though the website says my method can still allow me to wear contacts, I have tried but my eye shape is not curved properly and the contact tends to sink instead of staying oval. My Optician does shake his head and mention that the Laser eye surgeons never fully explain the limitations of wearing contacts post operation.

I needed glasses as long as I can remember. I finally got my first pair when I started to work at GM. The doctor that did my physical told me I had to get an eye exam so they could make my safety glasses. I am near sighted. I could not see anything clearly past about 5 or 6 feet. When I got to about 38 I needed bi-focals. I could not read anything with or without glasses. One night while I was reading a magazine I found I did not need my glasses anymore for reading. I have both kinds of glasses now, progressive and single vision. I almost always use the single vision glasses and take them off to read.  8)

If you think the eyesight is bad wait for the metabolism change where even drinking water puts weight on Irishman!  ;)
