Hi,
I was married on the 29th December, 2010 in Wuhan a the Marriage office.
A month ago we had our house robbed and they took lots of documents and in these were our Marriage Books.
I am inquiring if anyone know how we could get another copy of the Marriage Certificate.
We currently live in Australia and I did not have any plans to travel to China, so need to get these copies certified and sent to Aussie.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I am not having much luck finding things on the net.

Glenn , from what I have heard .. you/both need to go back to Wuhan in " Person " and go to the Registry Office you got married with your Passport/your Wife's Family Book and Pay again of course .. as they are the ones with the Records . They'll supply you with a Copy/ Replacement  of the Red Book and the paper's are again to be picked up at a Notary Office . I don't think there is a way around this , but I could be wrong .. ?

Glenn , I see 2 problems here , one being that these Red books would bring a great price in the wrong hands here in Aussieland,  I have not seen where you live , but here in Melb the first place I would hit would be the Chinese Consulate along with your wife and take direction from them , regards Sujuan and Robert .

My thoughts...

1)  Notify DIFAT in Aus...you will need this info about different red-book numbers ?? when you convert your wife to Permanent Resident Status

2) Notify your local Chinese Consulate (as Robert suggests)

3) Get a friend or family member in Wuhan to talk with the marriage office there and get their advice.

4) Make sure you have a Local Police Report on the burglary that includes the loss of your Red-Books....(will be useful for 1) above.)

I suggest your wife to call this number, 027-85765674. It is the phone number of Wu Han Marriage Registration Service Center. It should be the same place where you two got the red book.
