How to celebrate the big 5-0 ?????
« on: January 14, 2012, 08:28:11 am »
I'm turning 50 yrs old next month. I never gave a damn about birthdays but this one seems special. I'm thinking about how I should celebrate ... what to do, what delicious meal to eat ... etc etc etc. Should this be an one day affair or celebrated throughout the year ?

To the guys past 50 yrs old, how did you celebrate ?

To the younger guys, how would you celebrate when you reach 50 ?

Any ideas ?

@ 40 I was more in amazement? where did the time go?

@50 just a small celebration with family. I did allot of grumbling and didn't want to be reminded of the age. Actually each year since has been the same so far.

I went to a Mexican restaurant with my father and 3 children.  The kids bought me a double round of tequila at my fathers suggestion, then dared me to drink it.  Much to their surprise I did and I don't really drink.  Then they took my car keys away from me.  I had planned on it before I made the choice to drink it.  But the first choice was to decide who would driver.  Too old to drive, terrible, horrible or nightmare?

That's so inspiring David.  I always wanted to learn to fly, but I figured I was too old.  I just turned 42.

At 50, I would want to have a romantic dinner with my wife.
...as irresistible as chocolate

Provided you can get through the Medical, you are never too old to get a PPL (Private Pilot License).

Even if you dont want to go as far as a PPL, you can go half-way with a GFPT (General Flying Progress Test) which means you can fly by yourself, or with NON-paying passengers within 20 KM of your local airfield.

Learning to fly was the most rewarding, exhilarating and challenging thing I have done in my life....that is if you dont count marrying a Chinese Woman... ;D ;D ;D
