Game Shows
« on: February 03, 2012, 12:40:35 pm »
I wonder about games shows in different countries, there is a wealth of intelligent people on here, has anyone ever been a game show contestant?

In the Uk at the moment there is one running called 'The Chase'.  There are four contestants who have to answer a series of questions each, to build up 'their' individual  winnings, then get made an offer to 'win' this amount, Once the four of them have answered and amassed it, their winnings are added together then have to answer questions to give (the chaser( specialist)) a set amount of answers to beat.

Whatever is amassed (example 40.000) then if the chaser does not beat the score made by the contestants, then is is shared between the four contestants

Well today I got an audiotion on wednesday 15th Fe to appeare in the program, so wish me luck :D :D :D

Well actually, I've been on "Let's Make a Deal".

There were three Doors that I could choose from:

Door #1; I can stay "Single" the rest of my Life  ???

Door #2; I can go and find a Western Woman as Wife again  :(

Door #3; I can take a "Risk" and look in China for a Wife  :-\

you all know which Door I have picked and "Won" big time! ;D

Well went for audition today to a hotel in Manchester.

Had to give a small introduction about myself, age, hobbies etc.

Then was given a page with 30 general knowledge questions on it
Example questions
Q1 What does GMT stand for?
Q2 What is the currency of Canada?
Q3 The longest bone in body is called what?

Done pretty well at end of time was told to wait in another room untill called, Once I got called back was told I was to go back on March 15th

I got 28 questions right out of the 30 asked..

2 I did not know where:
National population of Azerbaijan?
Is Swedish a national language of Finland?

So will need to prep myself for my next jaunt ;D ;D

Did you know that in the 1930's the bible was rewritten by an American (without looking it up) what was the reason for this?

It wasn't rewritten by an American it was re-translated.  The reason escapes me now but it was called the New American Translation.  Had something to do with getting away from the Kings English.  Oh yes, they wanted a more accurate or literal translation.

NO SHAUN SORRY :D    WHEN WAS PROHIBITION REPEALED? IT was to do with alcohol...., they're were over 280 refrences mentioning wine and alcohol, so he retranslated it and omitted them

That's not retranslating it, that's editing it.

Maybe re-writing it? Who knows but it never caught on. New King James Version still most popular (and he was Scottish!!!)
