MDBG???
« on: February 28, 2012, 06:30:04 pm »
MDBG doesn't seem to be working anymore.  They changed to using google translator a while back and now there is some sort of disagreement between them.  At least that is what I am seeing.  Anyone have a clue?  Neil?  Do you still used it?

Guess I've got Rhonald's ailment right now.  The title was dyslexic.   I think I fixed it now.

Same as you. Google wants to charge them for putting their interface on a google service. What the heck. its the same translator engine doing the work. But I like the MDBG interface because it gives you a list of other possible translationa ans also the pinyin  for each of the chinese words.

Hmm, seems to work fine for me.  It uses Yahoo translate now, instead of Google.  Looks like you can choose to use Bing Translate as well.  It only shows descriptions for Chinese to English - if you want to see the individual word translations, do the English to Chinese, then copy/paste and translate back to English.

Gerry the other possible words was what I liked the most about it.  We all know how twisted these tranlations can get.

Unfortunately I don't like the yahoo translation program.

Google is getting greedy.  I may have to dump them.  I'd go to Mozilla but it doesn't like my computer.  :'(

I agree with you Shaun.  Yahoo's translation is nowhere near as accurate as google's, and Google's isn't perfect either.

You have been on this forum longer than me Shaun -you shouldn't be needing a translator any more. You should have enough Chinese to talk comfortably. ::)

I think there is a lot of one sidedness about the language situation on here. ;D ;D

Other than Vince I wonder how many people here understand that reference?  Huh?

Either my writing for translation has improved or Babel fish has.  I'm not sure but the few translations I have tried have translated well.  I can't figure out how to look at the other translation possibilities.  Every time I try to cut and paste I not able to paste.

Maybe someone will step and and fix these issues.  Who knows?
