Children's Day June 1
« on: June 03, 2012, 07:52:44 pm »
I understand that Children's Day was Friday June 1st.  I'm wondering, would they celebrate it all weekend long?

In The UK the Celebrations started for the Queens Jubilee on Saturday and will go through to Tuesday night.  60 years Queen and yesterday more than a million people lined the River Thames celebrating a pageant that involved more than 1000 boats.  Of course there were republicans demonstrating against the Monarchy (all 100 of them).  For those who could not get to London there were thousands of street parties throughout the country.  Tonight there is a massive concert outside Buckingham Palace with Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, Kylie Minogue, Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones and Elton John.

One thing that the UK has and that is consistency.  This weekend is one I miss being in London For. At least the TV has had so much coverage that I can seen it all here.  They estimate more than 1 billion people around the world will take part in the Celebrations.

I have no idea where he lives.  Thankfully he has never invited me to his house.  Just as well as I could not spend all day with my back to the wall.  ::)
But then again I can think of no one of importance to be living in Atlanta - even Georgia as a whole.  Except a forum members named!!! What the heck is he called??

Personally I think that is in Atlanta Georgia.  May be Reginald Dwight in fact.

Yes, Willy, with your name and your reputation for being completely irresistible to people of all sexual persuasions, I can understand why you would be worried. An innocent invitation such as, "Are you free, Willy?" can take on a completely different meaning. Coupled with that is the fact that, as we all know, all gays are sexual predators and have no sexual discrimination whatsoever, their motto being, ‘ If it moves, invite it for a cup of tea'.
"God save the Queen", indeed.

One in the same Willy.  Out of the ones you listed I would prefer to listen to Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, and of course Elton John.

Also if Elton John says "God save the Queen," you really could not be sure of whom he speaks.  The Queen of England or himself.

4 days of celebration for the Queens Diamond Jubilee now coming to an end. There is no country in the world that can put on the pomp and ceremony like the British.  This weekend is the only time I have ever missed being in the UK.  I have been stuck in front of my computer watching BBC TV for four days.  A beer in the hand and a tear in my eye!

Only the second occasion ever that it has happened.   This been the most British of British occasions.

Your missing the point you Pseudo Brit. The point I was making was that there has been only two diamond jubilees ever. And no I was not there for the first.
Just to put record right. (Yeah the first time was when he came to visit me   :'( and just before he had to leave  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
