USCIS ....California Service Center
« on: September 13, 2012, 11:07:59 pm »
I was wondering if anyone has had their wife's I-485 application go through the California Service Center. We received a letter from the USCIS that they had transferred LiLi's greeen card case to the California Center to help speed up processing. It kind of puzzles me, because we live on the East Coast. Then I checked on their website and saw all Service Center's have an average of 4 months processing times.  Except for the California center. It's average is 16.5 months. Now, for the life of me, I cannot see how that is going to "speed things up".  So what kind of waiting time has anyone had with this center?

Zook144,

From what I have read, once your case is transferred you will have to wait 180 days to even inquire about your case. It looks like CSC is taking about 7-9 months to process the AOS. The advance parole and EAD is taking about 3-4 months to process so that helps some if your wife wants to work or needs to travel before receiving her green card. Here is thread from another site that addresses your problem specifically so you can get a better feel for your situation! http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/367592-aos-transferrees-thread/       Good Luck and just be patient, Robert

P.S. Another thing slowing the service centers down is that "executive order" by yours truly that added about 800,000 cases for illegal aliens  to the stack. Those cases are being processed by the services centers now also! http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=162f81268a8e8310VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=f68181268a8e8310VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD

Thanks Robert. She received her permission to work card a few days ago. So at least we are that far. She has the ok to get an ID card from Virginia. But we had to have some kind of mail or something that proved she was actually living here. So now we have that resolved I think. Now I just have to get time to get back to the DMV to get the card.
