Year of the Horse?
« on: January 31, 2014, 11:46:44 pm »
Not one mention of the New Year on here!

So I thought that I would say something if only to say that it is the year of the Horse and not the Rabbit.

I will elucidate on that. On Monday our niece bought a young rabbit for her daughter. On Tuesday they went to their home province for the New Year celebrations and left the rabbit, in its cage with us to look after whilst they were away. However on Thursday morning we get up to find a rather stiff rabbit lying dead on its side!  So certainly not the year of the rabbit!

The same day I find a rather large fish going round in circles in a large container in the kitchen giving me the wistful eye.  We all know that there is no year of the fish which was just as well as that evening he or she was not looking so energetic as it lay out as the centre piece for the evening meal on New Years Day.

Still I suppose someone on here has to say Xinnian Hao.

My fifth Chinese New Year here and counting.

I think that most of us who have Chinese wives with us at this time will be suffering not only with the food and wine , but also lighter in the back pocket ha ha . We Westerners tend to celebrate only for 24 hours not  for 5 or more days ha ha .
Now it is early to bed and late to rise .
