HELP!
« on: August 22, 2009, 11:46:32 pm »
Help! I do not know what to do! My wife is in Guangzhou and china Southern Airlines would not allow her to fly to Taipei on route to America.
Her flight time has passed and neither of us have enough money to buy a new ticket. Any advice or help is greatly appreciated!

Vince, your Why means - why China Southern Airlines would not allow her to fly to Taipei - Right?

Feisnik,

I am assuming you lost the opportunity to purchase and or change your current ticket? Is it too late?

Can you check to see if it is too late?

Can she fly another route? On same airline or different airline?

If so when are the next flights?

If she can not use the ticket, then what is the cost of a new ticket?

Above all do not panic - remain calm - there will be away to get the results you need.

Vince China doesn't allow its citizens to go to Tiawan.Without special travel visa.I know she is just passing threw but sometimes China has some reduntant laws.

Nik is the airline willing to trade the ticket for a flight threw Japan or Korea? What else your wife can do is Go to Zhuhai or Shongshan.Catch the ferry to the airport in Hong Kong.

Pm Willy he is in Zhuhai maybe he can help your wife.Sort this out with China air.I would definatly call China air and see if they couldn't reroute your wife.

Your wife is dealing with a ticket jockey. You will probably want to bump this up to a manager.

Keep me posted we will get this sorted out.No worries

Why does she have to fly through Taipei?

There should be a Guangzhou - LAX route on China Southern.

How in the world could they ( China Southern ) sell your Wife a ticket through Taipei anyway ? They knew she was chinese , they knew that this is not allowed without a special Tourist Visa and should have ask for it when buying the Ticket . This is the Airliine's fault and they should make arrangment's for Fei on another Route to America they are flying to . You should NOT need to buy a new Ticket .
What is this ? Are Airlines scamming People now too ?

Arnold,

I agree with your statement totally, They more than anyone would know that,  and any other rules too.

So  Nik,  get in touch with the airline and demand a re-routing for your wife, and don't take any crap about you paying any extra charges for their blatant mistake either. Demand to speak with someone in authority if your not getting anywhere with the ticket saleperson.  Theaten all sorts, if your still not getting anywhere with them, but always politly ..haha!! .....It rarely comes to that, but it has worked for me on a number of occassions. The best one, is that you work for a travel magazine...lol!!

Greetings brothers,

When it rains, it pours & last night shortly after posting this, I lost my internet connection! Anyway I ended up waking my father up and using his card to fly her to Hong Kong today and then she will fly from HK to Newark and on to Denver tomorrow. Does anyone know Newark airport well?

Anyway, China Southern Airlines told her that She could fly to TaiPei from Hong Kong, but not from GuangZhou. I spoke with CheapOair until 2:00am and they are not able to refund the trip because she flew part of it from ChangSha to GuangZhou. But they have requested the airlines to refund the money to me because of the issue that caused it. We had to do a new emergency booking and I woke my father up in the middle of the night to use his card.

I hope everyone learns an important lesson on how NOT to route their wife to their country. I just got a call from YanFei in HongKong. She has safely arrived and is exhausted, since she could not sleep last night. She has a 18 hour layover there. Thank you for everyone's help, thoughts, & prayers.

Best wishes for you both.

My reply "WHY" was a simple one, I know. But without knowing where the problem was only gave many questions as most of you posted. Knowing where the fault is brings the answer of how to help. If it was because the flight was full and they overbooked? Then they have to give another flight, etc. So it was easiest to just ask "why" and find the fix from there.

Oh and Nik I did know Newark AP but they have remodeled it since I was there. (a while ago) Unfortunately they do this all the time at all the airports. At JFK they just moved JetBlue to the building next door (the old TWA building) so I couldn't walk my daughter through it (texting). When she arrived I found they moved the terminal to another building (third time)? Best to look up the airport website.
