Daghoi,
Ask and you shall receive... lots of hotels in that area...
Super8 Beijing Guo Mao (18 Shuangjing Bei Li 86-10-67763388) Looks like it's quite close to where you're looking... off of Line 10, maybe 500m away from the subway station... never been there, but the photos I see aren't too bad.

Hi !
Thank you.
Yes i found several in the area. Super8 did not come up on my search though, I will investigate more.
Kind regards

i was reading were Guangzhou has 1143 hotels in this city?
Bejing must be pretty close to that if not more??

Just book wherever you find for one or two nights, ask a local to look for a 7 days inn, they are cheap, clean and everywhere, if you do book in become a member straight away and get huge discounts when you book on line....reception will usually do it for you when you get there lol.
-
I am back in the 7 Days Inn. Beijing has over 2000 hotels, could be over 3000 now. they have a number of 7 days inn throughout the city. They run about $35 per night including breakfast. the only problem is they do not accept credit or debit cards, only cash. they are clean and smoke free. Not big but adequate. I would stay here again.
-
Not taking a credit card would be a concern for me as I don't like to carry large amounts of cash, especially when travelling overseas and hotels being such a large components of the bill usually...But then again, I also get other benefits by paying for the hotel by credit card (points, deferred payments, etc.)
But this is all experience and preferences...

There are a lot of places in China that will not accept western credit cards, best thing to do is load your credit card up with extra cash at home then use it to draw cash from a teller machine, that way you don't pay the high interest charges for taking cash out, for some reason you can't use a mastercard/visa debit card to withdraw cash but you can use the credit side of it to withdraw cash from most large banks.
I was advised by my bank in Aus to do this and it worked perfectly though I didn't find out until I got back home that the charges were about 60rmb each time I used it........I would have taken 4,000rmb out each time instead of 2,000 had I known, but I've carried up to 20,000 cash for weeks from Provence to Provence by bus/train/plane and never had a worry or problem.

20,000 cash to carry around? ok dinner is on you :icon_cheesygrin: cam

HaHa, getting down to about 12,000 after 3 months........RMB that is. Lucky I start teaching on Wed in Fuling Chongqing, go there for the first time tomorrow, everyone I've spoken to says it's a beautiful place & only 1 million population right on the Yangtze river near the 3 dam's or whatever, lets just hope the apartment has a western crapper................ each time I squat I miss :s.
-
Cam,
Chongqing and the surrounding areas are pretty nice, i think i have a general idea were you are going to
be. it is nice there but really hot in the summer. i was in the area in 2006 for about 3 months but it was
in july, august, sept. and you could cook eggs on the sidewalk:icon_cheesygrin: i would run into every starbucks i found to
have coffee and cool off lol

After nearly 8 months here I am a bit of an expert on this subject - however I have been asked not to keep 'cracking on' about it so my experiences are now only for the bars of China.
