Sorry Dave I didn't go professional, only sparred (Golden gloves). At least one I know of back then is still in the game as manager of a few fighters instead of being in the ring.

Ali was a performer. Good for his day but Mike Tyson was dangerous. Up until he lost his mind.

I went there today and its off for 24 hours.

I would not say Ali was the greatest boxer but he has been the one with most charisma of them all.

Maybe my vote for best fighter goes to Rocky Marciano.

I think Willy is right.

Tyson was good but he cheated so much.  The biggest offence was biting ears.

I was thinking maybe Rocky Marciano.Or maybe Max baer.Rocky was  more about technic.Baer was a killer. He killed 2 or 3 guys in the ring.Tyson was good. And Ali had Style.

I was aware Maxx. Just needed someone to pop in so I could add this follow up!  8)

It is a smart US Goverment way of censoring the internet. Once they get the power under the copyright banner they will have the same freedom to censor the internet as they do here in China and in Iran. If it was just copyright it would not have got off the ground but they have their own agenda. These are the words of the Google board not mine.

Marciano was good to. A real fighter. There are reasons for the name Raging bull. I see tyson much like a real life Rocky (the movie) when his manager past away he lost his way where Rocky found his way back Tyson kept spiraling down. Hooking up with Don King didn't help. btw Kings office is just a few miles from here.

I recently ran across an article about the Government censoring the internet and I almost replied with, China doesn't look so bad now, huh.

Raging Bull was attributed to Jake LaMotta. Yes Rocky was good. I see Tyson being mentioned with Ali so I do not see a wide breath of fighters being debated. My Dad's favorite sport was Boxing so I grew up getting to know a lot of fighters. Of course, because of my age, I would be drawn to the age of the 70's to 90's but I have seen some old flicks with Joe Lewis, and Sugar Ray Robinson. These two could easily be argued as the best. I loved watching Sugar Ray Leonard and his battles with the likes of Hagler, Hearns, & Duran.

Boxing has fallen out of favour for me as my liking of the UFC has grown. But I have to admit, I really like watching Manny Pacquiao fight as he is very exciting.

But all said and done, because of his Charisma, and his ability to adapt (considering he was not that powerfull), and what he did to allow good prize fighters to make good money (too much now for the likes of Floyd Mayweather) I vote Ali.

I should have made that clearer (Raging Bull). I was propping up fight styles. Ali brought entertainment to his fights with the twirling gloves and rope a dope where Tyson would just get in there and punch. There were many good fighters that had there moments but Tyson amazed me. That's why I went with him.

Tyson in my opinion was nothinmg more than a street fighter, an out and out animal. whereas as others have mentiond Ali was a showman

i also like very much Sugar Ray Leonard ;D ;D
