Chinese cooking lessons in Beijing
« on: July 06, 2009, 08:31:08 pm »
I just love Chinese food and enjoy cooking so I thought what could be better than to learn some stuff while over there. I read about this company - http://www.hutongcuisine.com/ and reckon I'm going to give it a go. The whole thing of visiting the market and picking out the food and then cooking an authentic recipe ticks so many of my taste bud boxes its droool time!!

Ling will be in work for the first week I'm there so will be exploring Beijing and Tianjin during the daytime.
This looks like something I'd really enjoy, anyone here tried it before or have something a little different they did that they would recommend to try out there?

Thanks Mike,

Maybe its the Irish blood in you, but I think we are reading from the same page here!
I'm all about doing stuff, hiking up mountains , sailing boats..thats the stuff i love. Of course meeting our wonderful nvpongyou's is the number one aim, but heck, i wanna have fun there too!
for me visiting somewhere new is all the more pleasurable when interacting with the culture and trying out new things. The cooking stuff ticks all the boxes in that regard, as would sailing or climbing mountains with Ling too.

30 days..am so excited i can barely stand it!

Irish , I can give you the Phone number of the Tourguide we had , really nice Guy , know's his history about everything and can take you to the Simatai Wall for 700 yuan , an all day Trip with some of the City , if time permit's . Just buy him Lunch and you'll have a blast .
About Cooking , well I do know about the Scorpion's . Catch or buy some ( 30 for two Person's ) sprinkle with seasoned salt and chili powder , deep fry for 20 seconds and if you like cheese , while still hot roll them in your favorite cheese . Yum Yum .
