Rent short time office space in Beijing ?
« on: January 01, 2010, 06:35:52 am »
Hello and happy new year.

No better way to start the new year than to look into my china travel plans for 2010 :icon_cheesygrin:

Im going mid april to Beijing. My employer has been flexible and accepted that i spend two weeks working from there (Home office style), and then two weeks vacation. Spending that amount of time there wil answer questions about how well i get along with the woman and how well i enjoy China. Things may be different staying and working in the same place for a few weeks, opposite to have vacation and staying for a couple of weeks.

What i started to look into was the possibility to rent an office space for 2/3 weeks in Beijing. I did a search on Google and cam up with a few hits, was not that "impressed" with the result....

Do any of you guys have information about things like this ?

What i need is a reliable internet connection, desk to sit at, and quiet enviorment. Office landscape will probably be ok. No need for secretary and phone service. Easy access to subway. Need to be very affordable , ...can only ask my boss to share this expense. I was hoping to avoid to work out of the hotelroom.

Appreciate ideas for this.

Thank you

Actually I worked out of my hotel room, Internet was OK and a good desk was provided ...

Check tripadvisor to be sure about the hotel ...
Go deep or don't go

it can be done here usually though they want at least a 6
month commitment so that might be a problem for you and
in Bejing that would be expensive. when my wife does this
for her company they always ask for 6 months paid in
advance. talk with the hotel your staying at prior to coming
here and they will go out of their way to acommadate you
for that time period and probably make it a very pleasant
experience. the chinese are very good at this and they do
want you happy so think about that

Hi !

Thanks for the input guys. I will probably be working out of the hotel room. It was a good idea to check with the hotel in advance and see check what they can provide. I have worked from my hotel rom earlier, but then it has been just for a few days. Since i will be working for 10-12 days it would be good to have some better working enviorment and a stabile internet connection.

Some of the hotels cater well for visitors to use their rooms for working in.  I know the one I use when I go to GZ, on Teds recommendation, has a special desk for working,  plus internet connection and adapter plugs.

Yu Feng GZ - minibar is expensive - 8 rmb for a can of coke - 2 in the shops!

I stayed in a couple of hotels in Hubei Province - it was perfectly OK for working.

Just bear in mind that Internet access in China is not always reliable - the Wuhan hotel Internet went down for a time and my lady's office and home connection is all over the place lol :s.
