Shaun, as had been said before if you are flexible in your days and times you will get better rates.  Did you try my site?  Every time I go there, I find the best rates, but again I will fly during midweek.  I agree, set your limit and as soon as you find it, buy.  Like I said, this trip was only $875.00 from Savannah to Beijing.  I have had cheaper flights but, because of the holiday i figured that was about as good as i was going to get.  Good luck.

Jim,

Yes I am hitting uschinatrip.com 3-4 times a day and we are looking at $999.00 right now, Augusta to Hong Kong.  I am not that flexible with time as I only have a 12 day window and I want to spend as many as possible with Peggy.  This summer if I can I will have a 10 week window.

Thanks,

Shaun

Somebody help me!!!!

I have just spent an afternoon of frustration.  I registered with travelocity for a low fare alert.  About 30 minutes after it was put out I was trying to buy a ticket for $573.00.  All of the seats and dates I needed were gone and I am back to over $1000.00 again.

Will there be any more fares for end of March through 2nd weekend in April or should I buy one at $1000.00?  There were before today, $1141.00.  I want to wait but at the same time I don't want to pay $3000.00 either.

Shaun

Dump your cookies, and I don't mean vomit.  If you were on a site and found something, left the site and came back to buy? Most sites (esp. electronics) know your back and the price goes up. It's there way of making you spend the first time. The tattle tale is in the cookies.

Ted,

Actually I was told differently.  You always want to book from departure country if at all possible.  However it's been stated a couple of times that if you're going to China, go down to your local chinatown and see what the chinese-specialized travel agents can get for you.

An additional side benefit is that you can usually get the travel agent to process your visa application at the same time as well.

I have just been looking up for flights to the UK from Hong Kong.

I can get a ticket via Doha for just over 4000 Hong Kong dollars - about 330 GBP but coming the other way it will cost over 800 GBP for the same dates.

Most, if not all airlines won't let you book a ticket from your destination, they used to be called ''inside-out' tickets'' !! The only way to buy those tickets these days is if you have an account with the airline or bona-fide agent!! I've tried several times and several different ways, but they always come back with a NO!! you have to have an open account....

Davids right.  I tried to get my Hong Kong to London return flight booked through my usual London agent but he said he could not do it.  Just as well as the reverse trip is much much cheaper if booked this end.
