How about just going straight to the agencies?
« on: October 06, 2009, 03:49:41 am »
Howdy everyone,

New to this site, chnlove and the whole notion of the idea of a Chinese bride. Not to say that I am going to necessarily hook up with a Chinese bride, but casting out a couple of lines might not hurt.

I am sort of planing my first overseas holiday (never been off the North American continent) I have always been intrigued by China (grew up just a few blocks away from one of the bigger Chinese communities in Canada)

My question, has anyone simply gone straight to the  matchmaking/introduction companies and asked to be introduced to any eligible women who meet their criteria?

Sorry if that seems to be a completely 'noob" question but I am a "noob" :icon_cheesygrin:

If anyone if curious I was thinking about trying to make a trip to Beijing for a couple of weeks, and just have a look around, and burn up several rolls of film.

I have really enjoyed the site so far, a lot of great and interesting info, and some really interesting characters as well.

It's certainly possible to find a woman while you're out there, but you would need plenty of contacts and I guess there's a great chance of getting scammed.

Another way of doing it is going on an escorted tour. They're pretty pricey though.

If you went to Beijing and walked into the Local Agency....they would bury you in eligible women...for a fee maybe :):)

Hi Dan

Went to China to meet a lady - it did not work out but stayed here in Zhuhai.  That was three months ago.

Went to the agency and they fixed me up with meetings of  so many women over the following weeks it became a bit embarrassing as they were acting like a sort of pimp!!!

They will keep introducing you to ladies because every one who meets you will have to pay them some sort of fee.   Not you but the ladies.

Not sure how Brett can say you could get scammed.  You are more likely to get scammed when you are some distance away  rather than in China - If they ask for money, ditch them for the next one there are lots and lots awaiting - my pharmacy bill will vouch for that and they are very 'accomodating' when they try to decide if you are the man for them.  Even when rejected you will have a great time in getting to that stage.

Just select a location that is easy to travel too - the closer to Hong Kong the better for economic reasons.

Why go to Beijing?  It is more expensive, more crowded and more air polluted - unless of course you want to see the Great Wall.  - Well there are far more interesting things to see and to enjoy!!!!!

Thanks Willy and David, appreciate the feedback! And yes the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden city are all major points of interest for me.

Willy - I was thinking more of getting hassled by those ladies who approach you then take you to a bar/tea shop then empty your wallet. Maybe this is an urban myth though. I guess if you went to an agency things would be easier though. Do you they charge you everytime you meet a lady though? It could get expensive.

I don't know if Dan would find a good lady in Beijing though, as all the best ladies are in Hubei Province .

Dan,

What Willy has stated is correct, if you were to go to China with the sole purpose of meeting and eligible Chinese lady. They will have many such ladies on there books, and you have the added bonus of not having to go through chnlove. any further correspondence will be via the ladies company email address...(.ie free to you, as the lady has already paid for this service within her Agency sign-up fee's) Plus, you, (like many others here) can set her up with an inexpensive computer and webcam, so that you can keep in touch face to face so to speak.

When you come down and think about it, ...it's a real alternative approach to finding that right lady. Perhaps more should think about taking this route. I'm sure Willy will give you some good pointers, on going about things with these local agencies.....

The other thing, that i haven't seen many people do here, is renting a serviced apartment for your stay in China, that could cut a chunk off your accommodation costs, as opposed to hotel accommodation. Well worth checking out, in my opinion!!....

Funny you should mention that mate...

Ke Ren mentioned when I booked the holiday that it was cheaper renting a Condo('Codo' as she called it lol:icon_cheesygrin:) than having the hotel bill:icon_biggrin:

Thanks David I will pop my advert in.

Anyone going to Zhuhai before end of January can rent my apartment there.   Complete with maid who cooks, cleans and does the washing and ironing.  High speed internet access.

David5o is right about it being cheaper to rent a fully serviced apartment.  I know Peter did this in Changsha.  I saw the first apartment on his first trip.  It was a beautiful apartment, and had a fantastic view.  From the pictures of his second trip, I know he had a great view from that one too.  I can't remember the price he paid, but it was cheaper than staying in a hotel.  Plus, you get the convenience of a kitchen.

Flight finally confirmed next Tuesday - going to Bombay or Mumbai then onto Hong Kong.

Will be spending more time in my second apartment in Zhongshan as this lady may be the one.

Willy,

Be prepared to be fumigated before they open the aircraft doors at Mumbai (Bombay)
Oh, ....and you will definitely smell the perfumes of India when the doors ARE opened.... haha!!
