Well after 35 hours or so of being awake I am here.
First impressions - Heathrow Airport. What a bloody dump.
Beijing airport, we'll it's absolutely incredible isn't it. Wow, it has a little train running down the middle. And ha ha ha a can of coke is 20p. Let me say that the women shop assistants in most (maybe all) the airside shops were absolutely stunning.
My flight to Wuhan was stuck on the runway sliproad for ages due to meh. We got served steamed pork rolls and were shown (amongst other things) Les Dennis' funniest home videos. Welcome to China lol.
Wuhan airport, again quite new. Leaving the arrivals hall, well as a Westerner I was literally mobbed by illegal taxi touts! But luckily I found the official despatch stand. The taxi to central Wuhan cost 100RMB. Life experience gained - priceless. The seatbelt didn't work and he asked me something mysterious, I think it was if we wanted to use the toll road and whether he would do it for a fixed price. We witnessed many harrowing road rage incidents, but only one actual fight between two car's occupants.
How do people cross the road here? Maybe I am stuck in this block until my lady comes to rescue me.
First impressions of Wuhan? Well due to the torrential rain I've not seen much. You guys were so obsessed with my suit that you did't tell me to pack a bloody umbrella!
Oh and this hotel (Novotel) is fantastic, it's a bit too sumptuous for my liking but at least it's a little oasis of calm from the madness going on outside.
Tomorrow I explore.
Sorry no photos yet, it's dark out and my lady arrives later in the week.
