Well I've just got back from a walk around the neighborhood. Well, it's hard to put the place into words really. I don't know if the rest of China is as chaotic as Wuhan is.
The gulf between rich and poor here is vast. Walking past a chaotic hospital was very sobering. You don't want to slip down the social ladder here. I think that as wealthy Westerners we have to avoid pandering to our ladies and their families too much - there are 1000's of beautiful ladies here who would do anything to find a wealthy husband, so if yours is too demanding then choose another. Wow that's tough but that's what my well travelled friend told me when I started this adventure, and I'm beginning to think that's the truth.
I've taken a few photos, but with people staring and not having my SLR kit it's hard to get good shots.
Oh, and in 2 hours of walking I didn't see a single Westerner, much less one wearing a suit.
I have at least found a shop that sells beer. It's about 30p a can or large bottle. I could only carry 50RMB worth of shopping and after spending all that money they only gave me 1 carrier bag.
I might go out again later although I only have a Chinese map of the city and the traffic is horrendous. I am not kidding guys when I tell you that crossing the road here is a near death experience :s.
