Arnold, Is that suppose to be a small pond? or waterfall? Is there a lining under it? Doesn't seem like there is one. Otherwise whatever water you put in there it will drain away.

This will be our Cactus Garden and I will water it all with the Sprinkler system with timer , coming down like a waterfall when finished . One of a kind ( I think ) . No Pond here . Thought about it , but too much trouble and upkeep . Here it get's 115 degree's sometimes , so Catctus is my choice .

Arnold,

Did the same here in Cyprus, not big or as elaborate as yours, but a cactus bed/garden just the same!!!

Made mine from sidewalk paving slabs. The council made the mistake of leaving a stack of them, just along from my house, along with a sizable pile of sharp sand!!!  So i made good use of both, ....haha!!! The slabs were too thin to use singly, so i first stuck them together, ....jeez, they tend to get bloody heavy in two's ...lol!!!
Anyway, when all was erected i spritzed them so now totally disguised...lol!!!!

How come you haven't go some sort of pool or plunge pool to keep cool during your summer's, ....I thought all you Californians had a pool round back and at least a 100' garden to put it in!!! ...hahaha!!

Thanks Arnold.  It will look very nice when you are finished.  A kind of Oasis.  If it gets to 115 degrees there then one of those air mist what ever you call them along the fence might help cool things down.  I talk in such technical terms I know.

By the way I will be jealous when you are finished.

Peggy would say, Good Job.

David ,
the Pool idea I through out , after seeing how much trouble it can be keeping it clean at my Uncle's . When ready for a swim this is where we'll be going to cool off . I just wanted a Spa which Qing and I love very much .

Shaun , can't wait myself to finish it and enjoy my own Park at Home .. but away from Home feeling .

This is a Tree right next to the Swing-bench , Qing loves this Tree and it is only 30-40 % grown . It will give us shade right there .
If I had enough for the day from the backyard , there is always my little Shanghai/Pudong right by one of my Livingroom window's .

Hi Arnold,
just wanted to say how much I appreciate you sharing your experiences, living with your beautiful wife. Reading your stories helps to counterbalance the trials and tribulations faced by many of the other members.
Can I make a plea to other married members living with their wives? I, for one, would love to hear those ordinary/extraordinary experiences faced by those members who are living the dream that most of us haven't attained yet. So, Maxx, David5o, Ted, Willy, and others, can you give us some Arnold-like stories? I am married now, but I am a rookie regarding the reality of living with a Chinese wife, and would really appreciate some day-to-day diaries.
For example, Maxx, most of us have received the benefit of your wise rules and advice, but, most of us don't know about the personal lived experience of being married to a Chinese woman from your perspective. Maybe you prefer to keep your personal life private, but I would appreciate finding a little bit more about the man behind the 24 hour rule. And David, you give us the wisdom of your experience, but it would be nice to know some more everyday stuff about living in Cyprus.
Just a thought :)

So , I finished my Rock today .. chisel'in three Character's into it .. the old fasion way . My Hands and not a Power Tool . I think it will do the Job .
Here are a couple of Photo's of the piece of Rock that's mine . haha

Now what does that mean ? It has actually two meanings , which everybody should know by now .. with the Chinese and their Character's .

1st: Garden of Lily's ( my LaoPo's favorite Flower and in Honor of my Sister " Lily " in Kunming .
2nd: Together forever ( these three Character's are often seen at Wedding's and simular Celebrations wishing Couple's well .

Alright , here are some of Qing's and My Photo's from our Trip down to San Diego and meeting up with a wonderful Person .. that we all know by the name of Ed W. former Mod here with us .
I start out with some from our first Stop before checking into our Hotel , Old Town and Seaport Village in the afternoon . What happened in the early Evening is something we'll wont forget for quite some time . Getting an Adventure .. without looking for one ! :-\ As the Sun was setting , I thought .. it's to early to head back to the Hotel and retire . So , smart Me .. decided let's take Qing down to the Border of Mexico without crossing it of course . That was the Plan , but somebody had other things in Mind . I missed the LAST exit before crossing and I was on my way to NO return . Stopping just before the actual Border , I ask a Patrol Guy what to do next ? He said , well it's too late and you must cross into Mexico and tell them of your misfortune (Haha) .. they will let you turn around through the BIG fence which did have a huge Gate build into it . Everything nice and dandy til now I though . But waiting in a long line to be check by American Border Patrol , it dawned on me ? I don't have my Passport on me . A Driver's License is not good enough anymore . As I moved up and started to pull our my Lic . , the first word's came out of Him ... this Lic is NOT enough . I need your Passport !!! Oh yeah , I knew that .. but I'm only turning around .. because I missed the last Exit . By that time I was Sweating Bullet's already . But ..but SIR , I really did not really want to go to Mexico .. only show my Wife the Border and the Hills of Mexico that's all , and I missed my Exit . As he checked Qing's Green Card and gave her the Ok , I remembered that I still had my Copies of my Passport and Chinese Visa with me .. from my last Trip . A sigh of relief came over me . He looked at this Copy and let me sweat some more . Okay ... SIR ( yes he called  me that too ) , usually this is not good enough to cross .. but I am going to make an exception this Time . Talk about being caught in an situation ( with your Pant's down so to speak ) with your poor Wife wondering .. are we going to have to stay in Mexico now ? So , all is good now and I will mark this down as an not so nice experience .. that I can look back on though later and laugh about it . Which I actually did already .
Anyway , the next day it was of to meet Ed at the Zoo entrance . He was going to take us to Balboa Park for some Photo shoot , as he felt .. everytime he see's Photo's of us it's never both of us together much . So he offered to use his Camera and get some shot's at a wonderful/beautiful Park in backgroung . After spending about two hours doing this , Qing and I went inside the Zoo and knowing we are going to meet up again for Dinner later that Day at a Sichuan Restaurant of Ed's choosing .
I really can't say enough about Ed , not just as a Person .. but also about the great Father he is to his Daughter's with all he is having to go through at this time . We said our goodbye's at about 9:30 pm and it took us exactly three hours to get Home again . So I had the DOUBLE pleasure spending a super weekend with my Wife and a great Member of the Brotherhood too .

Thanks for sharring the new pics and the story about crossing the spanish border  ;D

Next time start singing Chech's song "I was born in East L.A." and they will easily let you cross back over.

I have once been to San Diego and I remember it as being a very beautiful city, and with the visit of Qing, the city has been additionaly blessed with beauty. I envy you Arnold having you wife with you while I am still waiting for mine. But maybe at least, that soccer jersey you are wearing is wrong and it will be the group in Orange that wins this year's World Cup  8)

Arnold,

Looking at your photo's of your garden, it seems like the end of your garden there is on a very steep slope, so i guess there's not much you can do with that section, apart from planting.

Jeez .... What are you going to do with those grey block walls you have there?? ...They would send me (pardon the pun)  up the wall,  looking at them all the time.  They really spoil the look, of an otherwise tidy little garden that you have.   Is sorting out these blockwork walls a part of your ''grand scheme'' for the garden??   Well if there not , ...They should be!!!...lol!!!
