SMS to and from China from anywhere. Cheap and simple
« on: September 12, 2010, 12:16:58 pm »
If Skype or QQ isnt an alternative for some reason. I found this site. We are using it now and its really simple and nice. I can send her SMS from online (actually, can also do from my cell by emailing it with a code). She receives the sms from a local China cellphone number. when she replies it costs her 0.10 rmb . I receive the SMS to my mail and online. Since my cell also has email it reaches me everywhere.

Anyways, thought it might be an alternative if someone doesnt feel comfortable with  Skype, QQ or well normal SMS.

I have been using this service too for the last 4 months. It is pretty cool in that it sends a copy of the message to your email. So you don't need to be sitting in front of your computer to receive messages. And it is really cheap. I think i get about 500 messages for $20. One thing I didn't care for is that you cant send messages from your phone through this service. You must use the computer terminal. Maybe that problem goes away if you have a internet data plan on your phone. Since I have upgraded my phone I have not tried it. Another problem that I ran into is when I first got it I used it for just one lady I had been communicating with and Just entered her number into the directory. Later as I added other people, Friend and family I had a directory of just numbers with no names. After sending the wrong message to the wrong people a couple of times I cleaned up the directory and added names and hometown to avoid the confusion. It not really a problem with the service was my lack of discipline to keep the directory tidy and complete.
Don’t give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.
