I am starting this survey as a means to help others over time by putting some numbers to questions and results. Hopefully this will help people prepare for their interviews! I made allowances for people to change their answers because sometimes the communication is hit and miss!      Warmest Regards, Robert

Robert I think this is a very good idea. I think you need to break it down.Maybe into 2 posts. That can be linked together.Or let me see if Irishman can add more then five options.I had eight questions answeard but it wouldn't take all eight.

I had a question related the visa interview (I know the answer for the UK is). If I remember they ask if the questions are to be in chinese or english? is this right? Putting aside the obvious better to have it in english, what if the lady said she would be more comfortable with chinese? This way they may not be able to trick her with the english meanings. ie: when did you first meet? could mean at first (online) or in person? Any opinions?

my wife was required to give all her original documents on 21Dec2011 at 12:30pm. each applicant was given a number. as most members are aware, there are many visa applicants that await the interviews. her 'peer group' interview was scheduled at 7:30am on the 22nd.
at 7:30am the applicants were taken to the 5th floor. the numbers given the applicants are chosen at random. maybe it is fortuitous, my wife was one of the last few interviewed. whatever. there were three windows open. my wife's interview was in Chinese. she told me the American that did the interview only asked two, maybe three questions. when did we meet & how many visits we had. he than complimented her on her fine husband as a 'good' man.
I do not know if this is the standard fare of interview nowadays. it was easy considering all our original documents that were submitted the 21st and all copies of communication, photos, whatnot, my wife carried on her person the interview day. I suppose it is better to overwhelm than underwhelm.
it is my impression that all original documents that were submitted the previous day are probably reviewed by a Chinese national for accuracy against all the documents I had electronically transmitted to the NVC during the visa review. that is my assumption only.
Anyway, that is my Guangzhou story. I wish you all successes!

John you touched on a very good point that ALL members no matter how long they have been around.  It is better to have something and not need it than to have nothing and need it.  To be forwarned is to be forwarned.

Some people live by the KISS principle.  Keep It Simple Stupid, but in this instance where we are all trying to get our spouses to our own country we need to live by the PPPPP principle.  Pryer Planning Prevents P*ss Poor Performance.

Keep every document you can think of and let the people behind the counter sort it all out, make them earn their pay.

Congratulations and may it all be smooth sailing in 2012 for you both.

Robert

I am happy to complete your survey, but same as some others here, we can only answer in as far as there are similarities between different Countries' requirements.

For instance, I dont know how your visa classifications compare to ours in Aus, we only have 3...fiance, wife, tourist...(excluding Educational and Special Work Permits for reserved Occupations)

For all the other questions, I guess they will be common to all Countries !
