Willy I was there in 2010.I never really thought Zhuhai or Zhongshan air was that bad. With the wind blowing off the water it keeps it relatively fresh. As you know the farther you get in country the worse it gets.GZ,Wuhan,Beijing,I thought were the worst.

Have you ever gone to the island out in Zhuhai bay.If not check it out if you get a chance. The bus can drop you off right at the rd.out to the island.we used to rent bikes and ride around the island. It is probably 3 Kilometers around. The whole island.I have walked it a couple of times. It is a nice place to hang out.Lovers rd in Zhuhai is real nice at night. If you get a chance take your wife.I think she would like that.

Beijing is the most polluted place on earth. No joke. I am not making it up. Guangzhou cant be too far behind.

I lived in SHENZHEN for a year and never got sick.
This old man's immune system is no match for the subtropical bio-breeding ground of Guangzhou.  My first year here in Guangzhou I was constantly bothered with dysentery and the like.

I have been in the hospital three times with bleeding stomach and ulcers. I catch more colds than ever here. If you  ride the bus, chances are you will see someone coughing up a lung and he is almost always sitting next to you. I regularly have a lung infection and have to go to the Doctor for antibiotics to clear it up. And then there is the ear infections and flesh eating bacteria ( I am missing a piece of my nose). I cant wait to get home to the dry climate of Colorado.  Any germ that follows me home will wither and die within 24 hours

Been there and done that many times when I was living there, it was before I met my wife and was with several different women.

I think I am going to give it a try. There are a lot of things to do there listed in the travel guides.
Is this Island called pouch island?
Is there a train from Zhongshan to Zhuhai?

There is a train from Zhongshan to Zhuhai.  there is also a direct train from Guangzhou to Zhuhai.

A bus from Zhongshan to Zhuhai costs about 30 rmb.

The is a replica old palace there which one lady said my ancestors probably destroy the original where ever it was.  I did not tell her my Dad was here in the army in the 20's.

The old palace was in Shenyang. The summer palace is in Beijing. I have seen them both.  I think the replica here is modeled after the one in Beijing.

Something interesting happened when I was looking for tourist attraction there. the website trip adviser grabbed my Facebook ID and used it to access all of my contacts back home.  (without my permission)

So here is a good idea if your going to be browsing the net, log off of everything that you don't want seen. I guess if they can do this with your Facebook account they cant grab your contacts from Hotmail and you account balance from your bank. I did not know this was possible until now. And possibly if you have auto logon in some of your online accounts the information in you cookies could be used to log in for you. This is scary.

stay away from this website.

that's why I never use auto logs, don't save passwords. granted, when you lose internet at the house (because they can't block the vpn) you have to wing it and then PayPal sends you an email that they stopped all payments and purchases and flagged your account as being used for fraud...  really annoying. At least my bank knows and they send me texts, prior to trying to lock down the account.

as for pollution, The air outside Handan is great, especially up in the mountains to the west. As for Handan itself, you'll want a heavy supply of meds before arriving. I take a vitamins and some even pack allergy pills, maybe it has something to do with a "small" town of 8,000,000 in an area that is 1/4 the size of Detroit and the multiple steel mills. of course I could be mistaken...

when my wife gets to America and her lungs get the chance to recover from living here, she is gonna hate her visit home to see her mama and nainai. Then she will understand why I cough so much.

LLoyd,
I know what you mean by the supply of meds but I have been here and my supply of everything is gone.  I just got back from the clinic. I have another lung infection. I get about one a month here. I had an earache last week that my body managed to suppress but most infections here my body has never seen before and my immune system does not know how to cope.  I am dying (literally) to get out of here and go home.
