Canadian Earthquake

I hope all our Canadian Brothers are safe and well.  I have just heard a big earthquake has occurred in British Columbia.

It is okay Willy , it was not a quake , just Martin dropped his money bag on the floor .

I got better info now.  The initial report was breaking news. Now they say it was 90 odd miles out to sea luckily as it was a 7.7.

It looks like Hawaii has been given a warning of a possible tsumami.

Apparently the tsunami didn't really materialize.  I'm more worried about the Franken-storm, as they are calling it, in the northeastern US.  I have family and friends there.

Rhon, did you notice anything or are you like most who thought they either had indigestion or were hung over?

I wouldn't worry about the big wind coming from the Seas.  I would be more concerned about the storm centred on Washington that will hit the whole of the USA before the New Year.

  And all these natural occurences happening all around the globe, are they Gods way of telling us that we are out of control? Just some thoughts.

Shaun I did not feel it as being to far away from the BC coast - although my brother felt it since he lives on Vancover Island. As to all these natural occurrences, if it is natural, how can it be a message from God?

"In the offshore region to the west of Vancouver Island," the organization's website notes, "more than 100 earthquakes of magnitude five or greater (large enough to cause damage had they been closer to land) have occurred during the past 70 years."

The earth's plates are just doing what they have been doing since forever. Why the need to bring some hidden message about doom? Storms happen, diasters happen all the time, and yet somehow it is God's message? Then I guess I could equally say that if I have a week of beautiful weather, then it must be God telling me that all is okay.

I WISH!!!  I am what one might refer to as the working poor. HAHAHA

Rhon I think it is nothing more than nature at it best or worst depending on how you look at these kinds of things.

Martin, what is the Canadian range of the working poor?  In America $15,130.00 a year is the poverty line for 2 adults while $250,000.00 is considered rich.

To be honest, I do not know...but anyone who makes more than me is rich.

I see.   Whoever has more than me is rich.  It is a common idea that I can agree with so when I see a person as rich as Mitt Romney it seems unattainable.

For those of you who are in the quake of Sandy my prayers are with you and yours.  May all of you come out of this unscathed.

There are natural events going on in this World that no one can control simply because they are natural.   This has gone on from time immemorial and will probably go on for another few more  million years.

Before Christmas 2004 most people in the World had not heard of a Tusnami.   

The things that need to be of concern are the man made disasters that are still waiting o happen.  Like my wife learning to drive in China.

But on a more serious side New York is going to wake up to a great deal of problems caused by Sandy.

From the AP this morning.

"Hurricane Sandy took dead aim at New Jersey and Delaware on Monday, with sheets of rain and wind gusts of more than 90 mph knocking out electricity and causing major disruptions for companies, travelers and consumers. But for the overall economy, damage from the storm will likely be limited."

I'm suppose to believe this?  Industries are losing in the billions of dollars and the impact on the economy will be limited.  I am suppose to believe this like I am suppose to believe that our current government isn't corrupt.

Look on the bright side Shaun. 

The cost is being reported here at between 10 and 20 billion dollars.  A large proportion of this is covered by UK insurers.

Most past top officials (Mayors, police chiefs, etc) here (Miami Dade & Broward) have been jailed or removed from office.
