Hometown Activities and Festivals
« on: April 07, 2013, 11:40:49 am »
I am sure everyone's hometown has some sorta activity or festival they celebrate each year. Here in my town we have a few, but the one that is specific to this town concerns horse racing ( harness racing to be exact). We have beauty pageant, BBQ contests, events and games for the kids, and top everything off with a fireworks show in the evening.

Here in South Florida we have everything. Horse, dog, auto and any other racing you can think of. The beginning of spring break (though they don't allow it anymore) was here in Fort Lauderdale ie: "Where the boys are" movie shot on the beach here. Air shows, Boat shows, Auto shows, there are some small town festivals and even fireworks for Christmas and New Years.

To crowded, over priced parked if you can get it, lines for everything.

Overcrowding or parking is not a problem around here. There is plenty of fields to park in and the live-stock outnumbers the humans in this county! ;)

My home-town Kaiserslautern (Germany) biggest Event is held every Saturday/Sunday and sometimes on Mondays. It is of course "Soccer" (Fußball), as this City (along many others) live-breath-talk about nothing more than this Sport. I still follow it as much as I've ever done living there. It's in your blood, when you have played it since the time you could walk.
The second biggest thing, also happens on Saturdays.. and that is our famous "Markt" where Farmers come and sell their 'Goods". Nothing better than a Fresh made Bratwurst and a cold Beer. Makes one forget the Vegetable/Fruits on sale.

London or Zhongshan it is a common event - In China I get stared at just for being a foreigner in their midst.

In England I get stared at just for being a foreigner in their midst.

No change either way.
