Blue roses?
« on: June 22, 2009, 08:51:09 pm »
I see chnlove are doing blue roses now in the gifts section. i think they look pretty cool and sent a bunch to Ling but am wondering if i should have researched it a bit first ha ha!

She had a painful dental procedure (on Sunday) and she's a bit in the dumps about it as she has to wear a brace for a while and cannot chew properly (she's living on fruit juice and yoghurt it seems for the moment). I thought sending her some flowers would help bring a smile to her wonderful face again so i got her 12 of these blue roses.

Anyone know if there is any special meaning with the blue roses ?

Funny you should ask about this Irishman...I used to listen to this Irish singer a few years back, and he had a song called Bright Blue Rose.  Since he is also Irish, you might know him? (hahaha)  Anyways, his name is Christy Moore.  A fantastic artist!  Here are the lyrics to the song.

I skimmed across black water
without once submerging
onto the banks of an urban morning
that hungers the first light
much much more
than the mountains ever do.
And she like a ghost beside me
goes down with the ease of a dolphin
and emerges unlearned, unshamed, unharmed.
For she is the perfect creature
a natural in every feature,
and I am the geek with the alchemist's stone.

For all of you who must discover
For all who seek to understand
For having left the path of others
You'll find a very special hand.

And it is a holy thing
And it is a precious time,
And it is the only way.
Forget-me-nots among the snow
It's always been and so it goes
To ponder his death
And his life eternally.

For all of you who must discover
For all who seek to understand
For having left the path of others
You'll find a very special hand.

And it is a holy thing
And it is a precious time
And it is the only way.
Forget-me-nots among the snow
It's always been and so it goes
To ponder his death
And his life eternally.

One bright blue rose
outlives all those
Two thousand years
and so it goes
To ponder his death
and his life eternally.

Irish, I think she'll love the blue roses. I bought them once here and they are truly beautiful. Sometimes I think the brotherhood as a whole gets carried away with everything having a profound meaning and shall I do it. You guys must remember that these women know
that we will always have thier best interest at heart. Yes, there will be times were we will flub things and inadvertly buy something that might have a negative connatation. To be honest I think the mystery part makes it the perfect choice because you are still finding about one another. These women are way more understanding of our ways and are much more forgiving than you guys give them credit for. Thinking about things too much becomes obssession and that is definitely not the route to go. Not trying to be hypercritical just making a point. If it feels right in you heart you maybe should not do 100 questions prior to doing it. Just my thoughts.

I second Michael's motion. Asking so many questions or researching too much into something takes away from it's original sporadic nature.

On the other hand, I brought a "Hello Kitty" Cat Stuffed Toy for Martin's wife's friend ( a blind date ). Turns out that gift's name meant "Festival Death". I got blasted by Martin's wife and her friend for being so inconsiderate.

To answer your question ... "Yes" ... the toy had a 'smile' ... not 'fangs' ... LOL.

In China, there are many "Hello Kitty" toy stores ... so who knows !!!

Conclusion : You want to break up with a lady, send her a "Hello Kitty" ... which will turn into "Bye Bye Kitty"  :icon_cheesygrin:

You were supposed to know there was a hidden meaning to a cuddly toy, ridiculous,  these two ladies were far to hard on you, at best it should have been accepted as it was given with good intentions, at worst with a smile but a polite explanation as to its meaning, i take it you didn`t second date?

As Martin would say .... "Ummmm .... No !!!!!"

I brought a Massa-gee 'bear head' on a stick for Martin's wife Zhifang and she loved it. Zhifang finally realized that I had nothing but good intentions. I told her to tell her best friend to toss the toy away; apparently, she already did .... LOL !!!   Somewhere out there,  there's a poor dirty homeless "Hello Kitty" Cat in a Guangzhou garbage dump.

Bottom line : Stick with traditional gifts until you see her home / pictures / ask her what her hobbies or personal interests are before buying 'specific' gifts ( even if intentions are good ).

Arnold can't help but think of this movie when you talk of the spankings. Mel Brooks Movie High Anxiety and a scene Cloris Leachman & Harvey Korman
