Lyian is scared about that, just because in Gz and Zhongshan, the weather is warmer than in Beijing/Chengde. So... I just think I'll have to find something, to not see her becoming my "freezy rainbow" :D

This is how I see the weather pattern of locations in China. I've said this before in the past. If you take a world map that is flat and draw a lateral line across, New York (where I grew up) and Shenyang is on about the same line. So I know what the weather is like there. As for a line from Florida where I live now is equal to Guangzhou / Guangdong, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and I'm still in 80 degree (F) weather here. There are times in the dead of winter a chill will drop low enough for the temp. to drop to chilly. But I expect the weather along this line to be in a warmer climate not chilly all winter.

So I would think going to Guangzhou and that area you shouldn't count on it being cold for long.

Hmm, Wuhan's on the same line as the middle east, yet it can get bitterly cold when the wind comes down from the frozen North.

Don't underestimate a Chinese lady's fear of the cold though - mine hates it. I guess cold weather means you can get sick, then you can't work and might get big health bills. The cold weather is a good opportunity to send our ladies wooly hats, socks etc. though!

Vince and brett, thanks for the comments ;)
as you say, brett, Lyian wrote me, just to say that it is cold in Zhongshan actually, and one of her best friends is just sick and is at hospital, to have treatment for 3 days... let's hope she won't be sick too.

Yes Sly, my lady's mother is still in hospital, so I know why the Chinese fear the cold. I guess she was a bit like me on my trip, she got a bug then failed to get better due to the horrible air pollution (her illness is more serious than that, but I won't go into details). We are lucky in that we can go home again and clear our lungs, but Chinese residents don't have that luxury.

I think my lady's parents should move to the coast, but I don't know if they would want to as all their family (and they have a vast family) is in Hubei Province.

I guess living by the coast might be a lot more expensive though so perhaps they couldn't afford to move. I'm not sure if anyone would understand their Yichang dlalect either!

Send some Lyian some wooly long socks though, they're a thoughtful and sexy gift!

Brett, well, best wishes to your lady's mother, and I hope she can recover quick.
About long socks, well, I'm beginning to think about it more and more, it would be bad to have a love's kiss freezing when arriving in China :)
And about moving to the coast, why don't you try to talk about it with your lady and her parents? :) that could be a good idea, don't you think so?

Hi there.
a bit some many news.
Well, it's been a long long time that I didn't come here, and many reasons occured :
I had some "problems" within my family, related to my ex and my daughter, because of her boyfriend (my ex's boyfriend, not my daughter's because she's too much young :p)
things have been that he became more and more jealous, and hurt her a bit... after 3 weeks, I had to talk to her and to say that I cared not only for her, but also for our daughter, who talked to us about it many days... now, things are over, they are separated and that's also a very good thing.
I also encountered problems with my network's provider. In fact, I didn't want to go on with the previous one (too many problems), then I decided to change... but well, after 2 weeks, they still can't give me any access even for 10 mins...
so I can only access Internet at work but my boss is not very "nice" those last weeks...
many problems also occured at work, and most of us are thinking about changing or leaving that ####ing job.

A bit some more news about my trip, so.
I am right now in Beijing, in Holiday's Inn Central Plaza, since yesterday. And we have access to Internet :) so that I can post here.
After 16 hours by plane, I finally could be with Lyian again. I could not be with her from Gz to Beijing by flight, as mine from Paris encountered problems, related to the weather (we left Paris with 2 hours delayed), and I also missed the one in Gz with 10 mins... so I had to buy another ticket, but my flight arrived in another terminal than Lyian's one. As my mobile was very low battery, it became a bit hard but well, I kept her number in a paper so it was helpful. We finally were together again after 1 hour spend in the airport, looking for the other one ^^'
Once we arrived at the hotel, I was so tired that I think i have almost sleeped more than 12 hours since I'm in Beijing :)
We ate in a restaurant, at night, and we could hear and see many fireworks, up to late in the night.
Well, now she's just finishing to have shower, so we will go to Tian an men's square and the Forbidden City, as we're just near ^^'
Maybe some photos to be posted soon.
By the way, Lyian and myself wish you a happy new year :-)

Rhonald and Scottish Rob, Lyian and me wish you a happy new year too and hope things can be very good for you and your families:)

Actually, in Beijing, we can hear fireworks.... but I'm surprised it can be so loudly and that even some cars have alarms who are ON because of that.... ^^
so...Let's go visiting and liking that cold weather ^^' (-10 this morning)
