Back home and I read back the history of the talking with Liyan.
"household register".
So Liyan said that without it she can't marry nor come in France. But why??
I just thought that whatever she lived with her parents or not, she didn't have to have that paper if she would come in France with a turist visa at first?
And that paper is also only when marrying, or did I miss something??

Sly , are we talking about the Family Book ? Does Liyan have a Passport already , if not she will need that Book to apply for one . Anything Qing and I did , which involved any kind of " Official " paperwork .. we needed to have this Book on us . So if the Parent's are not willing to hand it over to their Daughter , for a Visa or Marriage ... she is out of luck . Hope it does not come to this , they would have her under a barrel .

Well, here are the sentences from Liyan :
"all you family, the people name inside"
"divorced people have a "household register"
"because they are marryed,so they are family not papa mama,is kid and wife or husband "
"i need papa get me "household register"
"if not have this ,i can not marry with you and can not go france"

I don't really know if she has a passport...but I was thinking about a family book, too... sorr for my bad english, sometimes :(

I just know she has an id card when we were in bj... that's all.
but about a passport, I don't think so, or maybe is it too old, i don't know...

so, if she doesn't have one, it's lost for her & me? because her parents can decide to not give it to her?

And if she got one but which is old?

Now i'm really baffled!!!  I can only think this Red book is the marriage register book you get when you marry, as i think any children you later have is registered in those red books... Maybe As Qing has been previously married she probably had her own red book with her child's details recorded therein..

What i can't understand, is why do they need that book to acquire a passport or marry??  After all, there National ID card has All the information they would need, can't think of anything that would be in the other red book that's not recorded on there ID card!!!

Hahaha!!  Now my curiosity is going to have to wait until i can get the In's and Outs from Lucy, I know she has her Red book here with her. Funny how these things pop up from time to time, and you haven't got a clue what these things are all about, and the reasons behind them ..... but i will find out about this one...lol!!!

David , as I saw it .. it was alway's the Family Book we needed . Never saw Qing come up with an "OLD" Red Book of her previous Marriage of any kind .
I'm also interested what your Wife has to say about all this .

As I don't remember if Liyan got a passport or not... it'll be harsh...
Plus, if she got a passport, maybe is it too old by now... Would she need a passport to go to HongKong? I think yes, but not sure...but anyway, if that is yes, I would think that it's still too old now...
It's becoming difficult.... :s

Maxx

they do need it to marry and also to obtain their first passport
if they do not have one. but the parents can hold it but she
could also go get a new one if she says she lost the original
at least here in gz they can do that as my wife did it a few years ago
when she needed a new one. they can also get there what they call
birth papers at the hospital they were born in if they dont have the
original

Okay , I have ask Qing and she agrees with me . She did need the Family Book for her Passport , both to come here to the States and the one to go to Hong Kong with . Of course you need it for Marriage , but a Visa .. No ..because you need a Passport for that .
Now she also say's , this is Shanghai rules ... different in other Cities like everything else .
About Liyan tell the Official's she lost the Family Book , wont help her either .. because her Parent's are needed to replace it with a new .
So a Visiting Visa for Liyan is out of the question , if the Parent's wont bring forward this Book . Besides , they might think .. their Daughter will go to Visit France and Marry over there without their permission . This is certainly a sticky situation for Sly . Back to butter up the Mom , I think is the only real chance to save Face for all .

Liyan has her citizen card, but the family book must be "given" by her parents, so?
No way to "escape" if she wants to apply for a new one, going to her hometown and the hospital where she's born?

Well... :s
Thanks for the infos anyway, dudes.
